In January of this year The University of Queensland Press (UQP) launched an Indigenous Placement program that creates a pathway into publishing for Indigenous university graduates.

The Placement program offers one Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander graduate a full-time annual position in UQP’s Marketing and Publicity team, reporting to Marketing and Publicity Manager Louise Cornegé.

This year’s successful applicant started in January and is receiving work experience, mentoring opportunities both at UQP and the University of Queensland, and opportunities to contribute to other UQP initiatives.

‘As well as championing First Nations authors and connecting readers with diverse stories,’ says UQP Director Ben James, ‘UQP is also committed to increasing diversity amongst our staff. We are proud to have launched this program.’
