History

Established in 1948 from a merger between the NSW and Victorian Publishers Associations, and with a modest membership of 20, the Australian Book Publishers Association grew to be the biggest representative body of its kind.
Formerly dropping the ‘book’ from our name in 1996, to embrace a growing digital culture, the APA is to this day open to any person or company engaged in a publishing activity in Australia.
