APA Export Initiatives

Every year the APA organises exhibitions of Australian books at major international trade fairs to ensure both a national presence and export opportunities for smaller publishers. In 2005 we took our Australian Showcase to the Frankfurt, London and Bologna Book Fairs – all premier fairs with international appeal.

The association also liaises with Austrade, the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Australia Council to further promote export.  The Australia Council’s Audience and Market Development Division provides a subsidy to attend overseas fairs, giving many publishers an invaluable opportunity to establish networks with overseas partners; and Austrade’s Export Market Development Grants Scheme (EMDG) enables many businesses to offset export expenses.
