Applications are now open for the APA's Residential Editorial Program (REP) 2026, which will take place from Monday 27 to Thursday 30 April 2026 at Q Station in Manly, Sydney.
‘REP was an absolutely incredible experience and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend … It has changed the way I think about and approach my work as an editor.’ – Alisa Ahmed, Managing Editor, Hardie Grant Publishing
Don’t miss this opportunity to participate in one of the defining professional development programs for Australian editors.
REP provides training for mid-career editors looking to enhance their literary editing skills through intensive workshops with highly experienced industry practitioners. Over the course of the week, 15 participants will work with three mentors on a manuscript that has yet to be published, before hearing from the manuscript’s editor on the final day.
Here’s some more feedback from 2024 attendees and mentors:
‘REP is by far one of the best things I've done on a professional level. To be in a room with other editors and to hear and learn from those in the industry was a wonderful experience – I left the program feeling both inspired and invigorated.’ – Camha Pham, freelance editor
‘REP provides a collaborative safe space and unique skills development for editors working at all levels of publishing. Where else could you talk about editing for a whole week with a great bunch of peers and mentors? I highly recommend the program for anyone looking to skill up, refresh, and make lifelong friends.’ – Grace Lucas-Pennington, REP mentor
Applications for the 2026 program are due 17:00 (AEDT) on Monday 24 November. Two scholarship positions available for First Nations editors, and one scholarship position for a freelance editor who is a member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd).
