Applications are now open for the 2026 Residential Editorial Program (REP), which will take place from Monday 27 to Thursday 30 April 2026 at Q Station in Manly, Sydney.
Fifteen editors will be invited to attend the four-day program to enhance their literary editing skills through intensive workshops with highly experienced industry practitioners. Participants will work with mentors on an unpublished manuscript that is currently in production. At the end of the week, the manuscript’s editor will discuss their editing process. The program will also include a range of workshops and presentations delivered by industry experts.
Eligibility
The program is open to Australia-based adult, YA and children’s book editors. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply, including people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people with disability.
Fees
- APA full members: $2000 plus GST
- APA associate members: $2400 plus GST
- Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd) members: $2000 plus GST
This program is only open to APA or IPEd members (excluding the First Nations scholarship positions). Fees will go towards tuition, accommodation and meals. Travel costs to the venue will be the responsibility of the participant or their employer.
Scholarships
There are two scholarship positions for First Nations editors, which covers participation fees and travel costs. There is also one scholarship position for a freelance editor who is a member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), which covers participation fees. Scholarship applications are included in the REP application process.

Fifteen participants will be chosen by the organising committee on the basis of their applications. Successful applicants will be notified by mid-December.
